At IBP, we see the hard work and dedication our employees pour into their communities every day — but it’s not every day that a member of the IBP family gets recognized for their service by their state governor!
Pat Beers, Navy veteran and employee of Legacy Glass & Supply, an IBP company, was recently recognized by the governor of Florida for his work with his local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post.
While many VFW posts found it (understandably) difficult to meet their annual goals due to the pandemic, Pat and his Winter Springs, Florida VFW post were undeterred. As Commander, Pat helped his local branch meet and exceed all of the organization’s membership and community service goals — a truly impressive feat worthy of celebration. Pat and his VFW post received All-State and All-American recognition from the state Governor.
Whether they’re dealing with PTSD or depend on the organization meals or simply want to be around other military people for a bit, Pat understands that many people depend on his VFW post. In fact, being an active member of the VFW runs in the family; Pat is currently the Commander of the same VFW post his father was once highly involved in.
“We have an outdoor area, so we told people if they’re comfortable, then come on out,” said Beers. “We’re all one big family and we try to help each other out. Once people realized what we were doing, they all wanted to be a part of it, and it all worked out from there.”
Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, Pat and his VFW members stayed committed to their community. Together, the Winter Springs VFW started a veteran’s advisory board, supported their local food pantry programs, sponsored their local Cub, Girl, and Boy Scouts programs, partnered with the police department for a holiday toy drive, and more.
From all of us at IBP, congrats to Pat Beers and his VFW family for this incredible recognition!
